The General Student Committee (AStA) is made up of MHL students who work voluntarily for the interests of their fellow students. They are elected annually by the Student Parliament (StuPa) and represent the interests of the entire student body both internally and externally: vis-à-vis other university bodies such as the Senate, the university management and the MHL lecturers as well as representatives from politics, culture and society. During the regular office hours (Monday to Friday), the AStA members are available to students with advice and assistance as well as with numerous services (AStA shop, issuing the International Student Identity Card (ISIC), ring binder binding, borrowing recording devices and cameras, etc.).
Members of the AStA
The AStA welcomes suggestions from the student body and committed fellow students. The AStA can be reached at asta@mh-luebeck.de and during office hours ("AStA hours").
AStA hours
Monday to Friday from 11 to 12 a.m. in the AStA office (opposite the gate)
The Student Parliament (StuPa) is the central opinion and decision-making body of the MHL student body, it consists of up to 34 students. The StuPa decides on all matters of the student body that are not the responsibility of the AStA. It is chaired by a three-member presidium. It elects the General Students' Committee (AStA), forms its own committees and passes resolutions that serve as a basis for the AStA's actions. Meetings are held regularly once a month and can be attended by all interested university members. The dates are announced in good time. The minutes of past meetings are also documented in the MHLnet.
The StuPa deals with topics such as the national semester ticket, evaluations of courses or the improvement of the study situation at the university. It maintains contact with the student members of the Senate, the Board of Studies, the University Council and the AStA, as well as with the administrative board of the "Studentenwerk SH". In addition, it regularly exchanges information with the MHL presidium. This makes it the most direct mouthpiece for bringing the concerns of the student body to the central university policy bodies.

Which documents are needed for a refund of the semester fee?
For the refund at the AStA of the MHL there is the application "Rückerstattung Semesterbeitrag" (see below). This must be filled out and submitted to the AStA via email or mail together with the following documents:
Proof of payment (e.g. copy of the bank statement)
Proof of justification for the reimbursement (e.g. confirmation from the Office of Student Affairs, exmatriculation, cancellation of enrollment, semester on leave) / confirmation from university abroad, employer (semester abroad, internship) / copy of severely disabled ID).
For the refund of the Studentenwerk fee, the form "Rückerstattung Studentenwerk" (see below) must be filled out and submitted to the Studentenwerk via email or mail together with the documents mentioned therein. Further information can be found on the Studentenwerk website (see below).
What deadlines must be observed?
The application must be submitted to the Studentenwerk before the beginning of the respective semester. The deadline is 01.04. or 01.10. of a year. At the AStA, the application must be submitted at the latest at the end of the first month of the semester (30.04. or 31.10.). A hardship application (see below) can be submitted up to one month before the end of the lecture period. The deadline is 15.01. or 15.06. of a year.
For which reasons can the semester fee be refunded?
Is there a hardship case regulation? If none of the above reasons apply, it is possible to apply to the MHL student representatives for a hardship case. In this case, the ticket is still valid and the student representatives will pay part of the semester fee. A case of hardship exists if the payment of the student fees would represent an unreasonable burden according to the circumstances of the individual case. Please contact us personally and we will find a solution. Of course, we will treat your case confidentially.
